The IT Lead, R&D Data Management & Operational Analytics will be part of the R&D Operations IT team that will look to optimize the way data is captured, integrated and used efficiently across R&D. This role will support data management & analytics projects with varying degrees of complexity. As Business Analyst you will be responsible for data integration & data warehouse design, focusing on R&D Data, Content & Context.
This role will work in an agile team of interdisciplinary experts, contributing to requirements analysis, concepts, design, implementation and testing of analytical solutions.
The IT Lead, R&D Data Management & Operational Analytics will:
• Create and maintain strong partnerships with business, BTL (Business Technology Leader), PLO (Product Line Owner) and development teams, built on trust and transparency.
• Capture & manage business requirements via the good use of elicitation techniques. Using the gathered information, document & review the new features (User Stories including acceptance criteria) to allow detailed planning.
• Utilize effective business analyst techniques to translate what business may want to identification of what is needed.
• Make sure that requirements are completely understood by downstream stakeholders as well as business and stakeholders by means of use cases and/or user stories, visualization, mappings, etc.
• Explain to business how requirements may be implemented from a functional standpoint.
• Support the design, development and implementation of data and analytics capabilities.
• Collaborate with the solution architect and the build team in the design for each new analytics capability ensuring the architecture aligns with IT strategic goals and target state architecture.
• Work with the R&D Data Ingestion & Virtualization team to make sure all relevant R&D data is captured & made available.
• Work with the R&D Domain Analytics team to make sure the data visualization requirements can be met.
• Modeling, transform and query experimental biological data and data from bioinformatics resources.
• Apply data analysis, integration & modeling techniques to facilitate design decisions.
• Liaise with other project teams to identify and capture constraints, dependencies, assumptions, and risks.
• Incorporate agile methodologies into project plans and work closely with scrum master to align timelines, resources and budgets.
• Throughout the execution of project, meet with development team members to answer questions, clarify requirements, and review/verify the implemented solution. Work closely with Testers and Developers to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the specified system behaviors (acceptance criteria). At the end of the development, verify the functionality and scope of testing based on requirements.
• Conduct formal reviews or demo/showcase the new functionality to key stakeholders and obtain sign-off; gather new requirements identified during these sessions.
• Apply compliance requirements within scope of responsibility, provide documentation as necessary, and participate in compliance activities as required.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR advanced degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience is required.
• MS or equivalent degree in bioinformatics, computer science or a closely related field such as mathematics or physics is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Pharma Research & Development processes and technologies is required.
• Understanding of Agile is required.
• Experience working within an Agile team is preferred.
• Working knowledge of SDLC including requirements elicitation, system design, development and validation/regulatory requirements is preferred.
• Proven track record managing technology projects is required.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills to support scientific research and operations is required.
• Solid foundation in computer science is required
• Biology background is preferred.
• Demonstrated expert understanding and experience with creating data representations & analytical solutions for modern biological data formats is preferred.
• Understanding of and experience with relational databases and entity-relationship data modeling, as well as with hierarchical data models is required.
• Project experience in a comparable industrial environment is preferred.
• Proven analytical capability is required.
• Knowledge of optimization techniques is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented modeling is required.
