As an IT Support Generalist you will be responsible for managing all day-to-day IT related issues at DNAnexus in our Mountain View headquarters and downtown San Francisco location. Your core responsibilities will focus on providing resolution for a wide range of technical challenges: maintaining equipment inventory, installing software, troubleshooting problems for end users, configuring equipment and software and generally helping out wherever needed. You will be the DNAnexus in-house expert for all help desk and desktop support, running new hire on-boarding from account creation to equipment setup and answering questions like “How do I change my password?” and “Why can’t I access the printer?” and “How do I manage the security verification on my email?” You are THE PERSON who always seems to have the answers - or at least knows where to find them. This position requires a diverse skill set as the responsibilities will evolve as we grow.
Responsibilities:
Acting as main point of contact for all IT related issues Provide technical assistance and support to end users New hire setups, including computer build, account set up and desk setups Administer user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage Maintain IT ticketing queue. Closing tickets within the company SLA Manage malware, antivirus detection and prevention, and group password policy enforcement. Work with firewalls and intrusion detection systems Partner with security/engineering to find and set up tools that address, detect and respond to security issues Oversee procurement, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development and support of hardware and software Administer contracts and manage relations with IT vendors and consultants Work with infrastructure and product engineers to adopt security best practices Travel required to maintain & enhance (as needed) the networking infrastructure at both the Mountain View and San Francisco offices Requirements:
3+ years of relevant experience managing IT operations in a technology company- preferably a start up B.S. Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience Comfortable working with multiple operating systems, with expert level knowledge of Linux/Unix, OSX and Windows. Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, and network services such as DNS, SMTP, DHCP, etc. Expert knowledge of IT security policies, procedures, and best practices Experienced in supporting printers and copiers in a corporate environment Strong organizational skills, both proactive approach and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical end users Based in Mountain View, California, DNAnexus is experiencing rapid growth and is searching for the best talent to join our team.
