Shortlist Add to shortlist Apply The Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing (SoIC) at Indianapolis invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in the Department of BioHealth Informatics (BHI). The appointment will begin August 1, 2016 at the Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus. We are seeking candidates in all areas of Bioinformatics and Biomedical Informatics and welcome applications from established researchers with collaborative research teams. Particularly interested areas include but not limited to: (1) genome bioinformatics and computational biology for precision medicine; (2) Integrating personal omics data analytics, system biology, and translational bioinformatics; (3) Biomarker discovery, development & biomarkers data analysis in personalized healthcare; and (4) other frontiers in bioinformatics and biomedical research and education. Outstanding scholarly record of research is exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications, a forward-looking research agenda, and competitive external funding. Record of teaching is manifested by curriculum development, student mentoring, and teaching publications. The new faculty will have responsibility for developing their research programs and contributing to the educational and service roles of the department. We welcome applications from established researchers with collaborative research teams. IUPUI is the health and life science campus of Indiana University, the focal point of health profession education in the State of Indiana and is located in downtown Indianapolis. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, a Master of Science in Bioinformatics, a Master in Science in Health Informatics and, Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, and a Ph.D in Health Informatics. Additionally, we offer undergraduate certificates in Health Information Administration (HIM) and five graduate certificates in Health Information Technology (HIT). Qualifications Ph.D. in Informatics, Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related fields, or clinical doctorate (M.D., D.N.P., D.D.S. or Pharm.D.). Demonstrate record of outstanding research productivity and impact. The ability to secure external funding will be a strong advantage. About the Department of BioHealth Informatics The Department of BioHealth Informatics (BHI) is home to a dynamic and interdisciplinary group of 12 faculty members and nearly 300 students across its Health and Biomedical Informatics, Bioinformatics, and Health Information Management programs. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, a Master of Science in Health Informatics, five Graduate Certificates, and Master of Science in Bioinformatics, a Ph.D. in Informatics, Health and Biomedical Informatics Specialization, and a Ph.D. in Informatics, Bioinformatics Specialization. The faculty in the department conduct groundbreaking, externally funded (e.g., NIH, NSF, PCORI, VA and AHRQ) research in the areas of clinical and health informatics, systems interventions, community participatory research, human-computer interaction, usability, mobile technology, and bioinformatics. The Department is home to a $2.2M grant from the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Initiative entitled “Improving Healthcare Systems for Access to Care by Underserved Patients.” BHI enjoys close collaborations with the SOIC’s Department of Human-Centered Computing and with the Regenstrief Institute, a pioneering institution in healthcare information technologies. Other partnerships include the IU Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CCBB), the IU Center for Bioethics, and the VA Center for Health Information and Communication (CHIC). Indiana University Health (one of the largest health care organizations in the Midwest), the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and Fairbanks School of Public Health, as well as the Purdue Schools of Engineering and Technology and Science.
