Job Description:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking to add a creative, curious, and driven Bioinformatics researcher to join the team at RUCDR Infinite Biologics. The bioinformatics team at RUCDR is solutions driven in helping researchers (public and private) understand common but complex diseases that ultimately leads to finding treatments and cures. This researcher is responsible for developing and delivering analytical approaches in an agile environment for a fast paced bioinformatics group. Among the key duties are the following:

-Implements current bioinformatics analysis pipelines and workflows.

-Develops, tests, and integrates novel algorithms and tools to workflows.

-Supports automation of data flow and management across various groups.

-Implements quality control processes throughout various workflows and to achieve accurate results.

-Maintains data and code repositories with emphasis on documentation and change logs.

-Collaborates with others on the team for R&D processes and development.

Minimum Education and Experience:

-Requires a Bachelor's degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or biostatistics/mathematics related discipline(s).

-Strong programming skills in Python, Perl, R/Bioconductor or other scripting languages.

-Also must be able to work independently to solve technological and analytical problems but also have the ability to contribute in a team setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Good communication skills are required.

-Candidates must be highly driven and motivated to become the next generation of analytics innovators in the life sciences space.

-A qualified candidate will be capable of following established protocols and create new ones to perform microarray and sequencing analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master's Degree.

-Excellent communication and time management skills.

-Detailed working knowledge of bioinformatics tools is required, along with strong conceptual understanding of NGS and Microarray data in life sciences.

-Previous experience in building high throughput analysis pipelines is highly desirable.

-Conceptual understanding of models behind common algorithms is also a plus.

-Favorable consideration will be given to those applicants with a good attitude towards learning and maximizing their intellectual growth.

Equipment Utilized:

Incumbent must have strong understanding of programming in descriptive, object-oriented, and scripting languages.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

-Office environment. Requires occasional weekend, evening, and holiday hours.

-Must be able to read and understand technical documents, perform detailed work, and manage multiple tasks.
