Job Description:
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, will provide support to research projects by designing, developing, and implementing software tools for processing and analyzing sequencing data. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Design large bioinformatics applications/pipelines Determine appropriate bioinformatics tool for scientific problem Write methods section of research papers Use systematic approach with analytical, reasoning, and problem solving skills to develop and modify internal software as well as installing software Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree Bioinformatics, Computer Science or Mathematics with 10+ years experience, Master’s Degree with 7-10 years experience, or Doctorate with 4-7 years experience Expert in a variety of scripting and programming languages such as Python, C++, and Perl Expert in the analysis of mass spectrometry based data generated on proteins, peptides and post translational modifications Expert knowledge of publicly available bioinformatics software tools such as MaxQuant, Perseus, Sequest and Skyline Proficient in statistical program language – R Advanced knowledge of basic biological principles Proficient knowledge of basic probability and statistics Excellent verbal and written communication skills to contribute to a multi-disciplinary team and to provide technical expertise and advice to researchers and other software/bioinformatics engineers Expert knowledge of resource management and processing large data set #LI-GS1
