BMS is in the process of establishing an Enterprise wide Information and Data Governance capability to deliver “value from data” in achieving organization’s strategic priorities. In this effort, we are looking for a Director, Enterprise Data Governance, to lead a transformation effort in data governance and business information modeling for the cross-divisional development organizations. This role will be crucial in leading efforts to establish data governance organization and processes for critical data assets as well as drive the implementation of a common informational modeling structure across fragmented systems and process areas. This role provides a unique opportunity for a strategic and influential leader to head the Information and Data Governance role supporting enterprise wide strategic business outcome with primary focus on Research and Development (R&D) business unit across all therapeutic areas from discovery to launch and beyond. Focus of this role will be in Data Assets that plays a critical role in BMS Research and Early Development as well as late stage development of our products. We are poised at a very unique time when large volumes of complex and varied data types (preclinical and clinical) generated from our different areas in Development Sciences such as Biomarker, PK/PD, Diagnostics, Safety Assessment and Bio-analytical areas as well as external parties needs to be readily accessible to ensure that swift interpretation and decision making can occur. These data strategy and governance not only impact decisions related to ongoing preclinical and clinical programs but also provide key knowledge as it relates to new target discovery. The individual will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the R&D business unit efforts around data prioritization and investment planning, data lifecycle management processes, data standards and controls, support analytics infrastructure, ongoing data operations and business ownership of systems. This role will be expected to not only develop and set the vision, prioritization and roadmap for critical data assets for all functions of R&D, but must also influence and collaborate with key business leaders across R&D. The role will serve as a single voice for Enterprise Information and Data Management (IDM) on key data related efforts across BMS by participating in ongoing Data initiatives. They will also be in charge of governing Data Centric global Initiatives including all stakeholders and leading these efforts. The individual will interact closely with senior management levels in the area of Research, Clinical and Real World Data analytics as well as the growing activities in support of Personalized Healthcare (PHC) The individual will potentially lead a small group of IT and data management team but will also have matrixed responsibilities to other subject material experts in the various functions of R&D and will be effective in operational change management. This position will report directly to the Head, Enterprise Governance and Policies and be a responsible for building and operating an enterprise level Data Asset governing body. Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements: -Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in a science based organization leading data management, analytics and informatics efforts. -Experience in biomedical sciences, Data management to help shape and operationalize a long-term Information and Data vision. -Proven track record of innovation in Biopharma industry with focus Immunoscience if preferred. -Develop and track metrics on productivity and quality and creates strategies and best practices to increase efficiency. -Demonstrated technical and people leadership skills and a history of successfully leading/governing Data centric strategic initiatives working cross functionally. -Excellent leadership capabilities with demonstrated skill in building, guiding and motivating effective teams and fostering effective collaborations. -Understanding of GxP concepts and controls for data management, governance and stewardship. -Experience formulating strategies to manage high dimensional and translational biomarker and clinical data is a plus. -Solid understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and development methodologies like waterfall, agile etc. -Project management experience/understanding. -Experience managing CRO and vendor relationship a plus. -Outstanding communication and partnering skills. -Ph.D. in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Informatics, Statistics, or related field is required -This position leverages interpersonal skills and extensive clinical trials experience to mentor/coach within Data Management and cross-functionally. -Possess knowledge of clinical operations and relevant regulatory requirements. This position has experience working on Phase I-IV studies within the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry across multiple therapeutic -areas and actively participates in regulatory submissions and inspections. -Skills in continuous improvement, project management, change management, and risk management. -Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Bioscience related field. -Clinical Data Management preferably with oncology experience and understanding of clinical data reporting processes and content
