Job Description:
We are seeking a highly enthusiastic, motivated LSRA who will provide technical support for the Translational Applications Service Center (TASC) core laboratory. TASC facility (http://tasc.stanford.edu/) provides laboratory services and expertise to physicians and scientists seeking to translate novel scientific discoveries from the laboratory to the clinic to facilitate bench-to-bedside development of cellular therapies and diagnostics.

The individual will perform cutting edge, interdisciplinary translational research under direct supervision of the TASC Director, with the goal of improving diagnostics, therapeutic monitoring and prediction of response to therapeutics for various human diseases, including cancer, organ transplant rejection, diabetes, and HIV infection.

Primary responsibilities include running nanoimmunoassays (NIA, NanoPro1000, PeggySue SimpleWesterns) that will validate new nanotechnology strategies for diagnosis and treatment by monitoring biomarkers important in the regulation of the disease process. These biomarkers will be measured on the genomic, proteomic and metabolomic level from cellular and serum components of blood, clinical tissue or cerebral spinal fluid. Other standard methods and assays to be performed include blood and tissue processing, RNA/DNA isolation from clinical specimens, immunofluorescence microscopy, western blotting, ELISA, and cell culture. The employee will catalog and process incoming fresh tissue and blood specimens for correlative studies, perform laboratory analysis of the samples using novel and state-of-the art technologies, analyze data for presentation and publication, as well as prepare common laboratory solutions and reagents.

This research is highly multidisciplinary and will use samples collected by various clinicians and scientists within the Stanford Medical School community, as well as collaborators from Biotechnology and Pharma companies. The position involves considerable technology evaluation and development along with understanding of automated assay platforms. Successful candidates should have the ability to work effectively in a service center environment to ensure optimum advancement of assay development from conception to delivery.
