Job Description:
Position Highlights:

· Be the Subject Matter Expert and point of contact of NGS analysis, interact with ORIEN members, pharma sponsors and molecular data vendors

· Utilize genetic/genomic information to identify optimal treatment for cancer patients

· Discover predictive biomarkers and new drug targets

· Collect and generate patient based data to speed up drug development

· Develop and utilize novel algorithms to analyze NGS data

· Deliver high quality and properly analyzed NGS data to ORIEN members and pharma sponsors

The Ideal Candidate:

· Professional with experience and solid knowledge in Next-Generation-Sequencing pipeline analysis

· Great team player with positive and "can do" attitude

· Highly reliable with outstanding planning & follow through to ensure projects/initiatives move forward efficiently and effectively to completion

· Outstanding oral/written communication and interpersonal/networking skills

· Excellent customer service & problem solving skills with ability to proactively identify issues/trends and solutions

· Passion for science and oncology

· Highly organized and able to handle multiple internal/external projects at a time

· Ability to significantly contribute to the overall ORIEN team effort while also able to work well independently

Responsibilities:

· Deliver properly processed and analyzed NGS data (WES and RNAseq) to ORIEN researchers and pharma sponsors.

· Seek input from ORIEN and pharma bioinformaticians, identify, evaluate and select various NGS pipelines for processing WES and RNAseq data

· Coordinate with molecular data generation vendors for data generation and deliver

· Develop data QA/QC tools

· Perform pipeline analyses, data QA/QC

· Perform custom NGS analyses and data interpretations

· Communicate the pipeline related analysis results internally and externally

· Be the Subject Matter Expert to interact with ORIEN members and pharma sponsors to help them use the Avatar data and address their specific questions

Credentials and Qualifications:

· Master or PhD of Computer Science or Bioinformatics (or related discipline)

· 3+ years of experience of bioinformatics and NGS analysis after PhD, or 5+ years after Master degree.

· Solid programming skills in R, Python or another high level programming language

· Expert in NGS pipeline analyses

· Knowledge and experience of Unix/Linux, proficient in shell command scripting

· Superior attention to detail and organizational skills

· Strong IT skills

· Willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly

· Excellent communication skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
