All About You

The Manager, Bioinformatics will be responsible for leading teams developing bioinformatics software for interpretation and reporting. In this role, the incumbent would i) interface with representatives from product marketing and management to develop detailed design specifications/product requirements from concept/vision statements, ii) coordinate with other bioinformatics scientists in the group to implement prototypes and proof-of-concept algorithms/heuristics for new product features.

This person will serve as a product owner or bioinformatics core team representative for various EIBU projects. Specific responsibilities include designing, planning and coordinating product development activities, implementing features and leading initiatives, including but not limited to: algorithm development, functional validation, medical center collaborations. He/she will interface with software engineering, marketing, operations, biocomputing and bioinformatics team, as well as internal and external customers and stakeholders. The Manager, Bioinformatics will report to the EIBU Director, Bioinformatics, and collaborate closely with the other Directors and Managers within the organization.

Responsibilities:
Lead efforts to develop clinical interpretation and reporting software and algorithms.

Coordinate with other EIBU product teams to ensure integration, communication and seamless data transfer across product lines.

Liaise with stakeholders to understand high-level product requirements, and translate them to granular engineering stories/tasks or specific algorithm features for prototyping/implementation.

Stay current with state-of-the-art bioinformatics and data analysis methods in the community, and display leadership in driving functional excellence within the bioinformatics and data sciences group.

Mentor team members and actively guide/participate in the professional development of other bioinformatics scientists within the group.

Qualifications:
PhD, MD or MD/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a Data Sciences related discipline or equivalent experience.

5+ years of post-graduate experience in informatics related work, with at least 3+ years directly focused on clinical applications of bioinformatics and/or software development.

Experience in NGS data analysis and its applications in a clinical diagnostic setting.

Experience leading “matrixed” teams and managing project resources.

Experience in clinical lab workflows and data analysis requirements, familiarity with CAP/CLIA and other professional society guidelines for NGS diagnostics.
