Job Description:
The DNA Learning Center of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has an immediate full-time opening for a science educator to provide hands-on experiences for middle school students at local schools, and at its facilities in Cold Spring Harbor, Lake Success, and Manhattan. Additional responsibilities may include developing teaching modules, conducting teacher-training workshops and mentoring student research classes. Occasional overnight travel to workshops and professional meetings is required.
Position Requirements
Ideal candidates will have a strong science background with interest and experience in teaching; NYS certification is preferred but not required.
Successful candidates will become members of a small, influential group recognized worldwide as a leader in creating and disseminating new methods of genetics education, including the fields of genomics, bioinformatics, DNA barcoding and RNA interference. This position demands a motivated, self-starter with excellent writing, computer, and communication skills – plus the ability to work closely with others.
