Job Description:
This position will be within the Translational Informatics group at Sanofi Pharmaceuticals. A key function to support drug development programs with data and model driven approaches to decision making in various phases of drug development, for ultimately identifying the right patient population, right drug and dose combinations and commercialization to achieve maximum benefit to cost and risk ratios. The group develops multi scale quantitative systems pharmacology models of target biology and drug mechanisms along with disease progression models and large scale clinical trial simulations on a strong foundation of real world evidence and clinical trial data in addition to various translational data from across the research and development process. With the changing industry landscape and more digitally enabled patients and healthcare practices capturing ever more patient data using mobile and electronic technologies, the availability of big data sets is becoming common place. Use of such big data sets combined with advances in analytics using deep neural nets and machine learning can vastly improve our prediction models as well as understanding of the mechanisms and progression of disease. This initiative reflects Sanofi’s investment in quantitative sciences as well as the necessity to develop strong interdisciplinary teams with expertise in mathematics, pharmacology, statistics, engineering, bioinformatics and medicine to solve complex biological problems and enhance our understanding of disease biology, the natural history of disease progression, drug kinetics and dynamics and the impact of drug therapy on clinical outcomes. An area that is growing fast in our data driven hypothesis generation and model building activities has been the use of big data sets especially applying advanced analytics to process and analyze these large data sets. This role fills a critical gap in applying smart automation and machine learning/ advanced computational approaches in addition to strong foundation in the sciences. This would be a highly visible role within the organization touching various functions along the drug development pipeline as well as working with external commercial and academic partners. The position also offers significant potential to publish and present in the scientific and computational community, and be recognized as a thought leader in the field of data sciences. The incumbent will have a broad remit to develop data strategies, test and implement analytical solutions to support translational objectives in early clinical development programs. Key Responsibilities:
