LSB conducts multidisciplinary research and engages in highly interactive, large-scale projects requiring a wide range of scientific skills and knowledge and generating extremely large and complex data sets. LSB is recruiting individuals in the broad area of computational analysis of diverse data sets from high-throughput assays such as micorarrays, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, RNAi screens, mass spectrometry/proteomics, high-content imaging, and SNP genotyping for positions as staff scientists (core).

The incumbents will work closely with experimentalists for analysis and biological interpretation of these data. Analyses will include data normalization/pre-processing using informatics, other existing methods like clustering, hypothesis testing, visualization, data reduction, and pathway analysis, and the development of novel computational tools, e.g., network modeling. Incumbents will also develop high-level methods for genome-scale data integration in collaboration with experimental scientists in LSB and leveraging the latest developments in the field.

The incumbents will help train investigators with limited data analysis skills in the use of commonly available data analysis tools and suggest methods for more advanced analysis.

The incumbents will report directly to the LSB chief. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. or M.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, or relevant discipline and three or more years of hands-on research experience with the analysis of high-throughput data sets. They should possess a sound knowledge of statistics and quantitative modeling, as well as solid computer programming skills with proficiency in Matlab/R, SQL, and at least one scripting language (Perl/Python/Ruby). Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Java and experience with multiple operating system platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux) are pluses.
