Job Description:
BrainsCAN is seeking an experienced Neuroinfomatics Specialist to support this ground-breaking research to better understand disorders such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, traumatic brain injury and Schizophrenia. As the Neuroinfomatics Specialist, you will support the development and application of novel algorithms, computational models, integrative methods, database and image analysis and will lead efforts to generate open access and searchable databases as well as automated quality control for touchscreen data and matching optical recordings of neuronal calcium with behavior. You will create new software and use a variety of program languages to drive the efforts for database generation, analyzing behavioral and optical data, content for manuscripts, scientific reports, and disseminating information. As the ideal candidate, you will have a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or Computational Neuroscience, with the preferred candidate having a PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline. You will have three (3) years’ experience in programming and scripting, one (1) year experience working with psychological, biological or clinical data, one (1) year experience in open access and analysis of large datasets, including machine learning and experience in Behavioural Neuroscience, Optical Imaging (using GCaMP6) or Neurobiology. The preferred candidate should have experience in either Behavioural Neuroscience, brain imaging analysis, analysis of genomics data or statistics and experience using touchscreen tasks of cognition. This position is a regular full-time, permanent position within the Professional & Managerial Association at Western University. Western offers a comprehensive benefit package including but not limited to extended health, dental, vision and pension. The salary range for this position is $61,370 -$87,520, depending on the level of experience.
