Dental informatics is a sub-discipline of biomedical informatics which focuses on the application of computer and information science to improve dental practice, research, education and management. During the last forty years Dental Informatics has developed into a research discipline of significant scale and scope.

Required Qualifications
Candidates should possess a PhD, DMD, DDS, MD with demonstrated strength in biomedical informatics. All supported trainees must be permanent residents or U.S. citizens.

The National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) funded Dental Informatics postdoctoral fellowship program will be primarily based out of the Marshfield Clinic site where Dr. Amit Acharya has established one of the very few and unique Oral and Systemic Health Informatics Research and Training Programs in the country. The core research areas offered through this program are highly responsive to the designated priorities of the NIDCR and Healthy People 2020.
