NIDCR Supported Oral Health Informatics Postdoctoral FellowshipsThe University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marshfield ClinicComputation & Informatics in Biology & Medicine Training ProgramUSA-WI-Madison, Marshfield The University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marshfield Clinic are currently recruiting trainees for its NIDCR/NLM-funded postdoctoral training program in oral health informatics (Grant No. 5T15LM007359). Dental informatics is a sub-discipline of biomedical informatics which focuses on the application of computer and information science to improve dental practice, research, education and management. During the last forty years, dental informatics has developed into a research discipline of significant scale and scope.
The due date for applications is March 31, 2015.

We invite applications from candidates who are interested in learning the applicability of the field of dental informatics and appropriate methods within it to investigate core questions in the areas of oral and systemic health, oral biology, dental public health and human factors, to improve the overall of health of individuals and communities as well as support the healthcare workforce in achieving this.
Some of the current fellows of this program are working in areas of linking oral imaging to Alzheimer’s disease as well as discovering potential protein and metabolic markers from dental plaques to associate them with pre-diabetic, diabetic and non-diabetic statuses.
Key Postdoctoral Fellowship Tracks
• Translational Dental Informatics
• Human Computer Interaction in Dentistry
• Oral Health Bioinformatics and Computing
• Clinical Research Informatics applied to: Oral Systemic Research (e.g. infectious diseases, genetics, etc.) or Dental and Craniofacial Research
Required Qualifications
Candidates should possess a PhD, DMD, DDS, MD with demonstrated strength in biomedical informatics. All supported trainees must be permanent residents or U.S. citizens.
The National Institute for Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) funded Oral Health Informatics postdoctoral fellowship program will be primarily based out of the Marshfield Clinic site, where Dr. Amit Acharya has established one of the very few and unique Oral and Systemic Health Informatics research and training programs in the country. The core research areas offered through this program are highly responsive to the designated priorities of the NIDCR and Healthy People 2020.
