Job Summary:

An interdisciplinary research team that combines translational bioinformatics and gynecologic oncology expertise seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to work on projects related to cancer genomics and biomarker identification and validation using multiplatform datasets.  Applicants should have a Ph.D. in statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a closely related discipline. Required qualifications include having strong ability in the application of statistical pattern recognition methods, computer programming, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will have previous experience and/or coursework in cancer biology. The candidate is expected to work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment with frequent interactions with clinicians and molecular biology experts. The candidate will be working with Dr. Shohreh Shahabi in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Dr. Ramana Davuluri in the Department of Preventive Medicine.

Specific Responsibilities:

Using multiple public data sources (TCGA, datasets on GEO, SEER-Medicare database, National Cancer Data Base, National Inpatient Sample, etc.) and institutional datasets to perform statistical analyses for clinical studies Using multiplatform -omics datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, miRNA, methylation and copy number alternation datasets) for biomarker identification and validation Conducting experimental design and execution Performing literature reviews and drafting and editing manuscripts Presenting data in written and oral form to local and national audiences Assisting with writing funding applications

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a closely related discipline Experience in the application of statistical pattern recognition methods and computer programming Strong written and verbal communication skills in English  Ability to efficiently draft manuscripts for fast-paced publication of results Ability to multitask and manage multiple ongoing projects Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:
