Job Description:
NYL’s Center for Data Science and Analytics is currently looking to hire a recent graduate / near graduation on a temporary basis with full time hours (40 hours per week). We are seeking a candidate that has or is near completion of a Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics or another field which is highly analytical and quantitative and considered in the realm of Data Science. As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to gain real-life work experience, develop your skills, and begin building a network in a professional environment.

The current hiring manager has a couple of short projects for which we need someone with statistical model building expertise. Either R or SAS must be used.

Qualifications:

  • Recipient or near completion of Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics or another field which is highly analytical / quantitative in nature
  • Exposure and experience with standard statistical techniques: Logistic Regression, Cluster Analysis, Random Forests, Experimental Design, etc.
  • Familiarity with statistical software - R and/or SAS
  • Strong business sense and personable
  • Self-directed and independent
