CELLULAR-LEVEL MICROBIAL PHYSIOLOGIST
The Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology at the University of Oklahoma invites applicants for a Cellular-Level Microbial Physiologist in August 2016. The rank of the position is open. We are committed to achieving a diverse workforce.
We seek a candidate that uses systems biology approaches to understand the metabolic and regulatory systems of individual microorganisms or consortia respond to external stimuli and regulate cellular function. The position is one of three positions of an interdepartmental cluster hire with the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in Systems Biology. Other positions include an Ecosystems-Level Microbial Ecologist and a Bioanalytical Chemist. The department has core strengths in the areas of environmental genomics, environmental microbiology, biodegradation, and energy, especially as they relate to anaerobic systems. Institutional priorities include research related to water, biotechnology, energy, and climate change. The successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in collaborative, cross-disciplinary, and cross-departmental research and initiatives.
