Job Description:
We are looking for a Research Assistant with a Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related discipline (exceptional candidates with a Bachelor's could be considered) with proficiency in programming languages, both low-level (e.g. C++, Java) and high-level (e.g. R), and expertise in computational biology, especially phylogenetics and phylodynamics. In particular, knowledge of the R phylogenetic libraries, and of the BEAST development framework is highly desired. The successful candidate will work at the UF Dept. of Epidemiology on State- and Federally-funded projects to apply bioinformatics methods and develop new phylodynamic methodologies, with emphasis on the modelling of infectious disease transmission through phylodynamics. Advertised Salary: $20.00-$25.50 per hour, commensurate with education, skills, and experience Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree plus one year experience in computer science, computer engineering, or related discipline.
