We are looking for competent support to strengthen our research group in Kiel as soon as possible. Your role:As part of the excellence cluster “Inflammation at Interfaces”, our highly interdisciplinary research group “Medical Systems Biology” at the Institute of Experimental Medicine focuses on the hypothesis-driven analysis of high-throughput experimental data sets in the context of microbiology, aging and inflammation. Joining our research group in the excellent research environment at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel, you will be responsible for the analysis of large-scale experimental data sets (genomic, transcriptomic, metabolomics) with the aim to discover marker proteins that distinguish different phenotypic variants of commensal as well as uropathogenic Escherichia coli. Moreover, the metabolic adaptation in these different phenotypic states will be investigated. The project is part of a tripartite collaboration between the University of Kiel, the University of Southern Denmark (Odense, DK) and the University of Lübeck, combining experimental, clinical and theoretical groups.

Additionally, you have gained experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, genome sequencing), in constraint-based metabolic modelling and statistics. Basic experience in microbial cultivation as well as in sample preparation for sequencing is advantageous. As you will work in an international group, strong communication skills in English are also necessary.
