Plant Genomics PostDoctoral PositionSouth Dakota State UniversityPlant Science57006-SD-Brookings A postdoctoral research associate position in bioinformatics and computational systems biology is available at the South Dakota State University (SDSU). The research project focuses on genome assembly and comparative genomics. The postdoc will perform research involving diploid plant genome assembly, splice variant analysis and comparative genomics. The postdoc will be part of the Fennell Grape Functional Genomics Laboratory (http://www.sdstate.edu/ps/research/vitis/ ), in the Plant Science department, will work in a multidisciplinary environment and have opportunity to collaborate with other computational sciences members and biologist associated with BioSNTR (http://www.sdepscor.org/biosntr/index.php) at SDSU and University of South Dakota. The successful candidate will perform computational analysis of high throughput, next-generation sequence data and possess the ability to use bioinformatics analytical tools on HPC clusters.   Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in plant computational biology or bioinformatics.
• Experience in a high performance computing environment.
• Perl, Python and Java programming experience
• Data management and database development experience
Desired Qualifications:
• Parallel computing experience
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment
• Experience assembly and annotation of heterozygous plant species
