Job Description:
The lab seeks an energetic and motivated post-doctoral scientist for the project. Required:
Additional Info:
The Laboratory of Glia Biology (Holt lab) is part of the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain and Disease Research. Astrocytes are a major cell type in the mammalian brain responsible for blood brain barrier formation and maintenance, synapse formation and the modulation of synaptic transmission. The lab has a strong interest in the molecular programs driving these diverse functions. In particular, the lab wants to establish the degree to which functionally specialised astrocytes support neuronal function, and how this may influence neurodegenerative disease. This project aims to investigate the molecular programs driving astrocyte development and how these gene networks influence functional heterogeneity in adulthood. The project will make extensive use of single cell transcriptome sequencing methods (Incl. spatial mapping technologies).
The lab seeks an energetic and motivated post-doctoral scientist for the project. Required:
- Recent Ph.D. in a relevant subject area (Neuroscience, Bioinformatics etc).
- Ability in bioinformatics and programing skills are a must.
- Fluency in English
