We are seeking post-doctoral scientists as we continue to grow and advance our efforts in oncology in order to understand the molecular mechanism of cancer and develop cutting edge therapies in this area. Description: Our team is focusing on Early Drug Discovery in the area of Epigenetics. We are interested in the genomic and epigenetic profiling of cancer cells using Next- Generation Sequencing methods. The aim of this 2 year post-doctoral position is to investigate internal and published data sets and generate therapeutic hypotheses for the development of innovative epigenetic therapies. The post-doctoral candidate will be expected to thoroughly mine internal and published data sources. The successful post-doctoral candidate will act as an independent scientist with a high level of understanding of cancer cell epigenomes leading to publication quality work. He/she will be supported by our bioinformatic team and will gain expertise by interactions with the Drug Discovery team. After successful completion of this post-doc, the candidate will be prepared to integrate into biotech/pharma research as a bioinformatic expert. *LI-MC1 Qualifications Qualifications: Education / Experience The position requires a PhD in Bioinformatics and graduate work should include Next- Generation analysis of epigenetic data sets. He/she will need to be comfortable performing analyses with large data sets and should have demonstrated capability to perform integrated analysis of various data types mainly from Next Generation Sequencing assays. Knowledge / Skills/ Capabilities Knowledge of Epigenetics and familiarity with cutting edge technology and the latest analytical concepts Deep knowledge in Next-Generation Sequencing methods (RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, DNASeq, bisulfite-DNA-Sequencing) Experience using state-of-the-art software for processing and analysis of NGS datasets,with emphasis on epigenetics. Experience using public databases and repositories (e.g. ENCODE, GEO etc) to download and explore relevant data sets. Proficient with UNIX. Working knowledge of scripting language (e.g. Perl, Python), R/Matlab. Experience with high performance computing and/or cloud computing is preferred but not necessary. Demonstrated ability for deep and creative thinking Highly motivated, innovative and strong team player able to function with a high degree of independence Excellent time management and organizational skills Strong communication skills, both written and oral Celgene Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
