Job Description:
The Postdoctoral Associate will perform scientific research for ongoing biospecimen research programs, including NIH funded studies at the University of Miami Brain Endowment Bank.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

-Ensures the design, development, execution and implementation of research protocols and/or scientific development in collaboration with a research team.

-Design of best practices for bioinformatics data analysis.

-Performs annotation for gene pathway and statistical analysis.

-Investigates postmortem brain RNA-seq data to combine biology and computer science.

-Develop informatics algorithms and bioinformatics databases to advance the understanding of neurologic and psychiatric diseases and other conditions of the human brain.

-Design and review of protocols for blood and brain biospecimens in an effort to develop cures for human brain diseases.

-Perform quality assurance data analysis of genomic datasets.

-Present complex data and bioinformatics analysis at scientific meetings and NIH progress reports.

-Review journals, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous experiments to aid in the design and development of original procedures and techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The candidate must have the ability and eagerness to learn new concepts and implement them, as well as a strong team ethic. The successful candidate will work with and assist researchers at all levels with varied computer proficiencies, thus excellent interpersonal communication skills are required.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

A PhD degree in neuroscience, biology, computational biology, bioinformatics, or other related field is required.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

Some work experience in data analysis and biomedical applications is preferred.
