Job Description:
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to work in the Schwartz/Yang Lab in the Pulmonary Division on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Examples of Work Performed:

The research in the Schwartz/Yang Lab focuses on understanding how the mucin, MUC5B, is involved in the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis. The lab is particularly interested in early pathogenic processes leading to the development of pulmonary fibrosis. State-of-the-art techniques, including next generation sequencing, CRISPR genome editing, and transgenic animal models are used to accomplish these goals. This individual will perform research projects focusing on the role of the airway mucin MUC5B in pulmonary fibrosis using existing animal and cell models in the laboratory. However, bioinformatics projects analyzing sequence (DNA and RNA) data are also available.

Specific Position Duties with Percentages of Time:

100% Research:

-Laboratory based research focused on genetics and epigenetics of pulmonary fibrosis

-Mentored research that will continue for at least two years

-Interaction with other lab personnel both scientifically and programmatically

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

-PhD in a biological or computational biology discipline

-Minimum of 2 years of mentored research

-Excellent communication skills using the English language

-The ability to work in a supervised/mentored research environment

-Computational skills to compile and analyze data

-Technical skills to produce wet lab results in animal and cell models

-Demonstrated expertise in presentation of results - both didactic and publications

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven experience and familiarity in genetics and genomics
