Posting Description
This position reports directly to Dr. Rebecca Schweppe in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Diabetes, and is responsible for directing and performing research focused on kinase signaling mechanisms in thyroid cancer, in order to identify new therapeutic targets for advanced thyroid cancer patients. This position may also involve supervision of graduate students and professional research assistants.
The goals of this entry-level postdoctoral research position are to understand the regulation and function of kinase signaling pathways in thyroid cancer, and to define pathways that promote sensitivity versus resistance to therapies targeting these pathways. Duties include: lab research projects, independent research projects, analyzing and interpreting data, writing grants and papers, and other duties as assigned.
These duties will use unbiased and focused approaches to identify genes and pathways that promote survival in the presence of specific kinase inhibitors, in order to identify rational therapeutic strategies that when targeted in combination, will eliminate thyroid cancer cells. Ultimately the results from these studies will 1) allow for identification of biomarkers to better predict which tumors will respond to inhibitors of specific kinase pathways; 2) develop more specific targeted therapies to block distinct components of these pathways that are deregulated; and 3) develop new approaches for limiting the metastatic spread of disease.
Applications are accepted electronically ONLY at www.jobsatcu.com, refer to job posting F02386
Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
