Job Description:
These opportunities arise through Prof Jussi Taipale commencing as the new Herchel Smith Professor of Biochemistry. The Taipale group will continue to work on transcriptional regulation; specifically, to understand how DNA sequences determine where and when genes are expressed. This effort will support the group in their second systems-level research area of elucidating control of tissue and organism growth. The research of the group will have impact on both the fundamental understanding of the regulation of gene expression, and on knowledge of the mechanisms that control cell growth during normal development and in pathologies such as cancer.

Computational genome-wide approaches to study transcription (1 position)

The candidate will have a PhD in Genetics, Biochemistry, Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Medicine or a related field. The project involves development and use of computational tools to analyze large in house and external datasets using advanced artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational biology, statistical and bioinformatic approaches. Applicants interested in any of the above research areas and/or interested in developing a novel research direction will be considered.

The selection processes will be conducted in November and the posts be available from 1st March 2018. Funding for all positions is initially 24 months.
