Job Description:
Post Doctoral Researcher (Job Opening 433319) - Post-doctoral researcher to pursue specialized research training in computational approaches to cancer genomics; oversees management of sequencing data from publicly-available sources or derived from clinical research studies investigating various aspects of breast and other cancers; plans and processes research data including implementation/adaptation of existing open source bioinformatics software packages and algorithms; participates in the development and implementation of custom tools (scripts, algorithms, software packages, databases, web interfaces) for new sequencing approaches; performs statistical modeling of sequencing data and integration with relevant clinicopathologic data; records and organizes analysis steps to enable reproducible research; indexes and archives high throughput sequencing data and analysis results; compiles and prepares research data results for manuscripts and presentations at conferences and workshops; assists with development and implementation of mentoring and training programs for PIs lab personnel, data managers and student employees; ensures validity and integrity of data; identifies and resolves inconsistencies in data; participates in analyzing data for reports for the purpose of grants submissions. Education and experience: A Doctoral degree in bioinformatics, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or an appropriate discipline is required. Knowledge of computer programming such as one or more of Python, R, UNIX shell, MATLAB, C/C++ required; familiarity with high performance computing required familiarity with molecular biology or genetics desired; requires successful completion of a background check; candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
