Company : Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry Country : Role : Postdoc
At the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry, clinicians and scientists are working in close cooperation on the causes of complex diseases of the brain and searching for new ways of their treatment. For this, besides a modern clinic with all facilities and equipment required for patient care and research, there are well equipped laboratories available. Here, neurobiological research methods, from behavioral studies to molecular genetics can be applied. The aim is, to optimize the benefit of research for the patients by way of close and innovative networking of basic research oriented and clinical neuroscience.
The independent Max Planck Research Group "Social Neuroscience" led by Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. Leonhard Schilbach at the Max Planck Institute (MPI) of Psychiatry in Munich, Germany invites applications for a Postdoc Position in Social Neuroscience (m/f).
Task, techniques and methods
This position is fully funded as part of a 5-year funding scheme as Max Planck Research Group Leader awarded by the Max Planck Society to Dr. Schilbach.
The research of this newly forming group at the MPI of Psychiatry aims to provide a better understanding of the neural mechanisms of real-time social interaction. To this end, the group combines functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) with real-time analyses of eyetracking data to generate truly interactive paradigms, which allow studying the neural mechanisms of participation in (gaze-based) social interaction and comparing them to the neural correlates of social observation. In close collaboration with the renowned Max Planck Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Psychosomatics and Neurology, another important aim of the group is to investigate commonalities and differences of disorders-associated changes in the neurofunctional systems relevant for social interaction and interpersonal coordination across different patients groups.
