Job Description:
http://research.mssm.edu/changlab/index.html http://www.mountsinai.org/profiles/rui-chang   We are seeking motivated and passionate postdoctoral researcher to work on computational systems biology and human diseases modeling. Successful candidates will work in an exciting interdisciplinary environments routinely interacts with our clinic, wet-lab experimental and computational collaborators world-widely. General Guideline As we are strong interdisciplinary lab, our research span from heavy-lifting mathematic methods development to real-world disease modeling. Accordingly, our positions are in two category in general: 1. Computation methods and software development: Applicant is expected to focus on novel method developments and software development. Prospective candidates should have a recent PhD degree in computer science specialized in machine learning, mathematics, statistics or physics. Strong working experiences in Bayesian networks and other graphical models is highly preferred. Candidate must have strong programming skills in C/C++/Java, Matlab and R. Programming skills in other language is a plus. Basic knowledge in biology and hands-on experience in computational biology is highly desired but not required. The candidate will be responsible for developing cutting-edge machine learning approaches, and is expected to develop software platforms towards real-world human disease network modeling and drug target prediction by working closely with disease modeling team; 2. Real-world disease modeling: Applicant is expected to focus on real-world disease modeling. Prospective candidates should have a recent PhD degree in computer science, bioinformatics (computational biology). Candidate must have strong knowledge in biology, genomics, and hands-on experience in analyzing and integrating ‘-omics’ data. Candidate should have a good programming skills in Matlab or R. Programming skills in other language is a plus. The candidate should have a good comprehension on state-of-the-arts computational algorithms. The candidate will be responsible for processing and analyzing multi-scale omics data and leverage cutting-edge methods to reconstruct disease models and generate in-silico hypothesis on drug targets. Candidate must be able to work closely with method development team and wet-lab collaborators. Postdoc and Visiting Scholar Position Prospective candidates should have a PhD degree in computer science, mathematics, bioinformatics/computational biology, physics and biology discipline and high motivation to pursue independent research in computational biology. Successful Applicants are expected to have a solid background in programming and computational techniques, with a working knowledge of molecular biology and genetics being highly desirable. Contact: Please send CV and cover letter to: rui.r.chang@mssm.edu Graduate and Rotation Student Positions are also available for short-term(rotation) and long-term (graduate) research opportunity for students at MSSM, please feel free to send me an email: rui.r.chang@mssm.edu. We provide unique training opportunity of learning-by-doing on specific research programs for students. Student will be fully geared up with essential skills in computational biology for their future career. Internship and Volunteer For external students, who is looking for an internship or volunteer position, we can discuss your interests in detail and work out a tailored project.
