Job Description:
Duration: 2016-04-01 t o m 2018-03-31. Starting time can be discussed. The scholarship will be set up for six months at the time. The Nilsson Lab at Lund University specializes in combining mathematics and genomics to understand blood disorders and blood cell formation. Computational models are developed to identify therapeutic targets, and to explore the genetic basis of blood disorders. The team includes computer scientists, clinicians, and molecular biologists working closely together. We are currently looking for a highly motivated postdoc interested in joining the group. The successful applicant will explore innovative methods and large-scale data to identify regulators of blood cell formation in vivo in humans. This will require the development of methods to integrate population-genetic data with complex, multi- and high-dimensional phenotype data reflecting blood cell development. Lund University has one of the leading hematology research environments in Europe. The environment involves some 200 researchers at the Biomedical Center (BMC), and is equipped with multiple technical platforms to support cutting-edge research in hematology. This project will synergize with other hematology-oriented efforts in Lund, including a major project funded by Knut and Alice Wallenberg’s Foundation. The group is a part of the core of the newly formed Lund University Medical Bioinformatics Infrastructure. Qualifications required Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant subject, and be able to demonstrate solid experience in computational biology, programming and applied mathematics (alt. statistics). Applicants also need to show personal suitability, including excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Priority will be given to applicant with experience in large-scale analysis of genomics data and/or high-content imaging data. Applicants need to fulfill the formal requirements for a postdoc scholarship at Lund University. The applicant should not have been employed by Lund University within the last two years in order to be able to receive a scholarship.
