Job Description:
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Huiping Zhang (Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Biomedical Genetics) at Boston University School of Medicine. The candidate will focus on genetic and epigenetic studies of mental disorders (particularly alcohol addiction). Specifically, the candidate will (1) profile microRNA transcriptome changes in postmortem brains of alcoholic subjects; (2) examine the regulatory role of microRNAs using 3’ UTR reporter assays; and (3) validate alcohol addiction-associated microRNAs using stem cell derived neurons as models. Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. in genetics, cell biology, neuroscience, bioinformatics, or a related discipline. Experience in one or more of the following areas is desired: RNA-Seq, stem cell study, and microRNA 3’ UTR reporter assays. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
