1. Deploying existing software for predictive phenomics in plants
2. Creating interoperable large-scale systems for broad genomic, phenotypic, and environmental data management
3. Creating new algorithms for analyzing gene function and phenotype data in plants
...and other activities of your own design.
In general, the lab is open to creativity and best nurtures individuals who are self-motivated. Individuals with a background outside of plant genomics are especially encouraged to apply – much of the software that enables predictive phenomics in vertebrates and other systems translates well for our interests! The time is right to bring those tools to bear on plant biology. In addition, developing collaborations in high-throughput phenotyping makes individuals with image processing capabilities as well as those who have a background in computing for on environmental datasets especially attractive.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The Lawrence lab is a computational biology lab equipped with high-end cluster computers and bioinformatics support.
