Job Description:
A postdoctoral fellow is required to work on projects to evaluate the biogenesis of the mitochondrial respiratory chain and of the mitochondrial ribosomes in health and disease using two model organisms:  the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and human cells in culture.

Specific tasks include:

Designing, executing and trouble-shooting experiments independently  Apply and expand expertise on mitochondrial physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology in health and disease using yeast and human cell culture models. Perform routine laboratory procedures, including maintenance of records and calculation of results for publication Under the supervision of the PI, apply for career development fellowships. Prepare manuscripts and present at national and international meetings Give lectures and present posters at international meetings  Supervise and train lower level laboratory personnel, including Research Associates and graduate and undergraduate students. General laboratory maintenance such as preparation of stock solutions and reagents, possible supervision of part time employees who prepare glassware and autoclave supplies, oversee equipment use and maintenance, and organize and maintain common laboratory work areas when needed.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree, should have a biochemistry/molecular biology background, and should be excellent team-workers.
Experience in mitochondrial biochemistry and molecular biology studies, yeast genetics, mammalian cell cultures, protein-protein and protein-RNA interaction studies would be advantageous.
