Job Description:
The Gerstung group is looking for a highly talented postdoctoral researcher to contribute to their research in computational cancer biology.

Research in the group includes large-scale international projects such as the ICGC PanProstate consortium utilising cloud computing to enhance our understanding of prostate cancer. Other streams of research cover the genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic analysis of precancerous lesions in different tumour types, which are conducted in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the University of Cambridge.

EMBL-EBI is part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and it is a world-leading bioinformatics centre providing biological data to the scientific community with expertise in data storage, analysis and representation. EMBL-EBI provides freely available data from life science experiments, performs basic research in computational biology and offers an extensive user training programme, supporting researchers in academic and industry. We have close ties with both the University of Cambridge and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute.

Qualifications and Experience:

A successful candidate holds a PhD and a proven track record in quantitative science, combined with a desire to work on biomedical research questions. A key ability is to work with large volumes of biological data by programming in languages such as R, python or perl. This ability would ideally be building on coursework in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science or related fields. An ideal candidate has an open mindset, desire to break new grounds with their research and is keen to work in a collaborative environment. Experience with genomic and transcriptomic data analysis or experimental protocols such as laser capture micro dissection would be a plus.

Expires: January 22, 2017
