Postdoctoral Fellowship in Translational BioinformaticsTufts UniversityComputer Science, GeneticsUSA-MA-Boston area We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic individual for a postdoctoral position in translational bioinformatics.
Our lab is interested in using molecular methods to predict health outcomes after preterm birth and to identify molecular causes of developmental disorders. The position will include developing and testing approaches to predict patient outcomes using clinical data collected by colleagues at Tufts Medical Center. The position also offers an opportunity for candidates interested in academic careers to gain teaching experience through a unique NIH-supported bioinformatics outreach program.
Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, or computer science; experience with genomic data analysis, machine learning, programming, and algorithm development; interest in the medical applications of bioinformatics; strong communication skills; and the desire to work as part of a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research team.
Proficiency in Linux/Unix, C or C++ or Java, and a scripting language such as Perl or Python is required. Experience analyzing data in R is a plus, as is a strong background in math, statistical analysis, machine learning, and/or molecular biology. Must possess good analytical and organizational skills, familiarity with version control tools, strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a team setting on collaborative projects. Interest in teaching, curriculum development, and educational outreach is highly desirable. Fluent command of spoken and written English is absolutely required.
