Job Description:
The positions are in the group of Professor Anders Krogh and will be within these fields:
Methods and algorithms in sequence analysis: mapping, alignment, assembly with a strong probabilistic component.
Analysis of NGS data – especially RNA-seq and metagenomics.
Modeling and data analysis in post-transcriptional regulation. We are addressing the interplay between miRNA, RNA binding proteins, and RNA structure using a diverse set of experimental data.
The group does both method development and analysis of experimental data. We are collaborating closely with several local experimental groups. We are an international group of currently 3 postdocs, 3 PhD students (+some external) and 3-4 master students and research assistants.
Postdocs in the group have quite a bit of freedom to follow up on own ideas and will have the opportunity to co-supervise PhD and Master students and participate in teaching (usually very little). We have good funding for participation in meetings, etc.
  Qualifications
Candidates need to hold a Ph.D. in bioinformatics or a related field, and have solid experience in bioinformatics. We are particularly interested in people with a strong background in statistics and/or algorithms that can contribute to the theoretical work in the group as well as to the implementation of methods. The postdocs will be expected to participate both in the development of computational tools and in the experimental collaborations and data analysis.
Mandatory requirements:
· Experienced user of perl or python and/or experienced programmer in C/C++
· Good or excellent background in statistics and mastering of R
· Strong interest in and good knowledge of relevant biology
· Publications in internationally recognized journals
· Fluent in English
Skills of additional interest include:
· Experience with probabilistic models, Bayesian statistics, and machine learning
· Experience in the analysis of Next Generation DNA Sequencing data
· Experience with small RNAs, gene expression analysis and/or metagenomics
As a postdoc you are expected to
· have a strong drive
· be responsible, reliable and be able to manage a project
· be able to work independently as well as in a team
