Job Description:
The Centre for Immunity, Infection and Evolution at the University of Edinburgh is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral research fellow to undertake phylogenetic analysis of multiple large data sets of E. coli genome sequences with the aim of quantifying the degree of transfer of antimicrobial resistance determinants between livestock and human populations. Applicants must have a PhD (or near completion) in microbiology or phylogenetics or bioinformatics with considerable experience of genome sequence analysis and familiarity with genome sequence analysis tools, database management tools etc. This position offers the post-holder the opportunity to be supported and mentored as an independent early career researcher. The post is full-time (35 hours per week) and is available on a fixed term basis from September 2017 until 31st December 2019.
