Job Description:
The Bhattacharya Lab (https://sbhattac.msu.domains/ ) in the department of Biomedical Engineering and the Institute for Quantitative Health Sciences at Michigan State University is seeking a post-doctoral researcher (PhD in Engineering / Computer Science / Bioscience required with a strong computational background) to apply state-of-the-art machine learning and data science methods to exciting problems in biology and toxicology. Specifically, the successful applicant will be expected to: (1) Develop predictive computational models of perturbed gene expression in immune cells induced by environmental pollutants (previously generated gene expression data will be modeled using genome accessibility, genome-wide transcription factor binding, and long-range chromatin interaction features); (2) Clearly document steps in model development and prepare written guides for model use by the scientific community; (3) Present the model at research conferences; (4) Publish peer-reviewed manuscripts describing the predictive model; (5) Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the lab. Qualifications: The candidate must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Bioscience with a strong computational background.
