Job Description:
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Biomedical Engineering or Data/Computer Science. The appointment has funding for 36 months and is available as soon as possible.

The position is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council grant EP/R003750/1 "Multi-parametric optical sensing for monitoring haemodynamic shock".

Responsibilities:

The main responsibility of the appointee is to undertake research as specified by the EPSRC grant, the objective of which is to design and develop a new non-invasive optical sensor for continuous monitoring of lactate in blood utilising novel multi-parametric spectroscopic analysis combined with multivariate modelling.

The postholder will carry out research both independently and as part of the research team in the Research Centre of Biomedical Engineering (RCBE).

Person Specification:

The successful candidate will have a relevant PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field and will ideally have experience in the research areas of spectral and multivariate data analysis, machine learning, and software development.

Prior experience in biological and/or healthcare application is very desirable, particularly in the areas of haemodynamic monitoring and/or noninvasive biological sensing.
