Postdoctoral Research Associate in Drosophila Development University of Oxford - Department of Biochemistry Location: Oxford Salary: £30,434 to £37,394 Grade 7, p.a. Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Contract / Temporary Placed on: 13th May 2015 Closes: 10th June 2015 Job Ref: 118389We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to investigate the influence of translational control on Drosophila development.
Applicants should have, or be in the process of completing a PhD in a biological science, or have equivalent experience at PhD level of carrying out lab-based research. You should also have extensive experience in biochemical and molecular biology techniques. This research experience should be evidenced by at least one first author publication in a reputable peer-reviewed research journal. You will also have a demonstrable knowledge of genetics. Previous experience in RNA biology and the field of translational control would be a distinct advantage, while experience with handling large data sets and a knowledge of computational biology methods would be an asset.
In order to be considered for this role, any candidate must be a highly motivated scientist with a proven ability to drive a research project in a pro-active manner. A willingness to apply for fellowships and assist in supervision of students is also highly desirable.
This full-time post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for a fixed-term of up to 2 years in the first instance and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QU.
