Job Description:
Multiple POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE positions are immediately available in the lab of Dr. Jinghui Zhang, Chair of the Department of Computation Biology, to develop and apply innovative analytical and visualization approaches for studying somatic and germline variants that drive pediatric cancers and are essential for improving clinical care. The Zhang lab has led the characterization of the genomic landscape of over 20 subtypes of pediatric cancers resulting in high-impact publications in the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, Nature Genetics, Nature Methods and Cancer Cell. Current analytical approaches involve integrating data generated from patient samples and experimental models by whole-genome sequencing, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, 3D genome and single cell profiling. The fellows will have access to a wealth of resources including high-quality data, a state-of-art high-performance computing facility, wet-lab functional validation and the latest sequencing platforms. They will receive mentoring from Dr. Zhang and senior scientists in the lab in areas of cancer genomics, clonal evolution, visualization, mathematics and software engineering. The fellows will lead or participate in all aspects of cancer omics research and have opportunities to collaborate with leaders of pediatric cancer and translational research. Interdisciplinary training will be provided to broaden or strengthen computation or cancer biology expertise for highly motivated scientists who may lack formal training in computational biology. Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctoral degree (PhD or MD), an excellent publication record and great communicate skills. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in quantitative data analysis with formal training in one of the following areas: genomics, bioinformatics, computer science, genetics or cancer biology. Computer programming skills are preferred and interest or experience in data visualization is a plus. The candidate is expected to be highly motivated, a critical thinker, a quick learner for new analytical approaches and capable of applying or developing novel computational methods for solving complex problems.
