Job Description:
The Population Sciences Branch (PSB) of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health invite applications for a Post-Doctoral IRTA/Fellow position. We seek highly motivated, creative and bright individuals, to work within the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) and NHLBI Division of Intramural Research. The FHS, a long-running family-based population and epidemiology study with over 15,000 participants, and has collected large repositories of genotype and phenotype data and tissue samples. Data includes whole genome sequences (>4,300 participants) and SNP markers (>8,000 participants), RNA expression (>5,000 participants), epigenetic, proteomic, metabolomic, and biomarker measurements, and longitudinal information on participants’ diseases, risk factors and treatments. The Johnson Lab within PSB is particularly focused on the genetics and genomics of cardiovascular therapies (e.g., platelet reactivity), translational genomics projects, the application of cell- and tissue-specific gene expression measurements, and the development and data mining of genome biology databases. We collaborate widely with several Consortia and lead projects to produce high impact studies, including currently planned genetic studies approaching ~1 million individuals in sample size.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. and demonstrated research experience in one or more relevant disciplines. Prior training in Statistical Genetics, Genomics, Pharmacogenomics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and/or Systems Biology is required. A proven track record of publications is expected. Experience in population research and/or large dataset analysis are all highly desirable. Programming experience in one or more of the following desired: R, Perl, Python, Ruby, Unix, SAS. Background in Cardiovascular disease, Epidemiology, Platelet Biology, Hematology, Pharmacogenetics, Big Data and/or Gene Expression research also viewed favorably.
