Job Description:
The laboratory of Dr. Simone Sanna-Cherchi in the Deparment of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, is looking for a young and motivated researcher to train in a highly dynamic environment with exposure to world-leading investigators in the field of human genetics and developmental biology. The candidate will work on human genetics of pediatric kidney disease of broad medical relevance, by using novel state-of-the-art genomic tools to identify rare variants with large effect on the phenotype.
The candidate will have his/her own project and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other investigators in the lab working on large-scale genomic data and on functional modeling in vertebrates.

Minimum Degree Required:
M.D. and/or Ph.D.
Minimum Qualifications:
All applicants MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered for the position.
M.D. and/or Ph.D. and a research or clinical background in specialty is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Th M.D. or P.h.D. degee should preferably be in Genomics, Molecular genetics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field. The candidate should also have significant experience with large-scale genomic studies; solid skills in at least one programming language (python, perl, R or C/C++); practical experience in large-scale bioinformatics data analysis with familiarity to both microarray and next-generation sequencing data; strong ability to communicate scientific material; high enthusiasm, work ethics, and willingness to push the envelope.
