Job Description:
A postdoctoral position or Research Scientist is available starting January 1st, 2015 in the laboratory of Dr. Pedro Miura, Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, Department of Biology. Research will be in the area of post-transcriptional gene regulation. Projects will focus on the regulatory mechanisms and biological relevance of extended 3’UTR mRNA isoforms and circular RNAs in the nervous system. Drosophila, mice and mammalian tissue culture will used as model systems. Traditional molecular biology approaches, as well as high-throughput sequencing and CRISPR/Cas mediated genome engineering approaches will be employed.
The University of Nevada, Reno is a Tier I institution offering a highly productive research environment. The Biology Department is home to 26 faculty members that maintain nationally recognized, extramurally funded research programs, mentor 50 graduate students, and participate in undergraduate teaching.
