Job Description:
The Systems Biology of Yield group, headed by Prof. Dirk Inzé, is focusing on the integration of multiple data sources (genomics, transcriptomics, phenotyping) to investigate the complex regulation of plant growth in relation to the environment, in particular drought. In 2014, Dirk Inzé started an Advanced Grant of the European Research Council (ERC) to research regulatory networks in leaf growth of maize.
We want to recruit an enthusiastic PostDoc in computational biology to perform research in the field of plant systems biology.
You will be involved in the integrative analysis of RNA-seq, growth phenotype and metabolomics data of Zea mays through development and application of statistical approaches, machine learning techniques and/or ensemble methods. You will contribute in discovering key regulatory mechanisms in plant growth based on the analysis of in-house generated data. The successful applicant will be working in close collaboration with our experimental team. Profile
- PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Bioscience engineering, Computational Biology, Computational Science, Biotechnology or Biochemistry
- Strong background in statistics is a must
- Experience in machine learning is a plus
- Experience in the analysis of High Throughput Sequencing is a plus
- Good publication record in peer-reviewed international journals (including at least one paper as a first author in high impact factor journal)
- Programming skill: one or more of the following: Perl, Python, R
- Proficient in Unix/Linux
- Experience in working in a HPC environment
- Strong interest in plant biology
- Strong interest in pursuing research in a stimulating and competitive field of science
- You speak English fluently. You have good communication skills and like to work in a team.
