Job Description:

  • Subgroup leader for sequencing team to test and validate new reagents for sequencing platform
  • Develop new experimental approaches to understand properties of molecules relevant to sequencing platform
  • Assist in the design of software and analysis tools for improved characterization of novel sequencing materials
  • Create a positive environment; instill sense of urgency and strong can-do attitude in team
  • Drive team debate/discussion around key issues that determine product quality, functionality or schedule
  • Guide decision-making processes and assist in determining experimental priorities for subgroup

The ideal candidate should have a strong background and proven track record in research and development work on complex projects that cross multiple disciplines. They should have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage a small group of researchers and guide their work goals on a weekly basis. A background in chemistry (preferably nucleic acids) and significant understanding of common software coding programs is preferred.

  • Ph.D. in chemistry, biology, or bioinformatics
  • Coding experience with Python, JMP, Panda, C++
  • 2 – 5 years experience in industry
  • Prior experience managing a small group of researchers
  • Ability to quickly prioritize needed experiments
  • Prior experience in DNA sequencing field a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of organic synthesis a plus
