Job Description:
The Novartis Cell and Gene Technical development and Manufacturing team is seeking a creative and accomplished bioinformatics expert to improve and optimize current T cell immunotherapy platforms. Partner with colleagues in research and informatics to develop, implement, and apply state-of-the art scientific algorithms and methods for R&D teams. Invent and implement creative solutions that go beyond current tools to deliver best solutions to the problems. Participate in project teams, elicit needs, and act in a primary role as a trusted primary bioinformatics partner. Lead informatics project teams in conducting user requirements analysis and deploying systems that meet CMC needs. Establish standards and protocols for statistical analysis of analytical data to support development activities such as comparability studies, stability, specifications, trending and outlier analysis. Conceive and design end to end data mining solutions to support CGT in their process development efforts for T cell immunotherapy. Stays on the cutting edge of data mining approaches by participating in research that influences decisions for T cell immunotherapy at various levels in the organization.

Minimum requirements:

A PhD in Computer Sciences, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Informatics, Medical Informatics, Statistics, Computational Biology or a related discipline. English Strong understanding of drug discovery and development processes, especially in the fields of tumor immunology and oncology. Hands-on experience in full-cycle bioinformatics software development especially in data processing, loading, pipeline development and informatics tools integration is required. Strong working knowledge of data mining algorithms including machine learning techniques such as decision trees, probability networks, association rules, clustering, regression, neural networks, Bayseian models. Proficiency with one or more programming languages such as .net, Java, Perl, C++ would be desirable. Experience in informatics analytics and visualization software/tools such as R/Bioconductor, Pilot, Spotfire, GenePattern, and Pathway. Familiarity with large datasets, handling of biomedical datasets, and understanding of data analysis workflows. Broad knowledge of existing data mining algorithms and creativity to invent and customize when necessary.
