The Helix Security team is seeking passionate engineers who want to develop solutions to important security challenges to protect consumer DNA data, work with our engineering and science teams, and create solutions for secure partner collaborations. As a Principal Security Engineer or Architect, you will: -Transfer your extensive security knowledge to the new field of bioinformatics and big data genetics infrastructure -Develop security infrastructure and tools -Code and review the core Helix platform including bioinformatics, back-end, front-end, and APIs -Ensure security of our hosted cloud-based platform -Develop security solutions to facilitate secure partner integrations and consulting with partner engineering teams -Keep abreast of the latest security tools and developments in the field of genetics and bioinformatics as well as the larger security community -Safeguard sensitive personal health information and genomic data across the platform, rigorously protect data privacy for our users -Provide a strong voice for data security and integrity across the company Required Background: -A passion for improving people’s lives through access to better information about their DNA -10+ years development experience of tools and infrastructure in Python, Java, and/or C++, and interest in or experience with Golang; able to operate independently at a principal engineer level -4+ years experience developing security solutions for distributed systems and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) -3+ years experience working with network security architectures and implementations -Experience designing and coding security protocols -Familiar with security policy frameworks, security audits, compliance, and regulatory approaches -Diverse domain expertise such as e-commerce, financial, wireless, and healthcare security implementations and techniques -Deep understanding of threat models for large, high-scale production platforms -Affinity for an engineering culture that emphasizes Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery -BS+ in Computer Science required; coursework in cryptography, genetics/bioinformatics a plus
