Job Description:

NATURE OF WORK: This person will be responsible for creating and maintaining Division research databases used for data collection, quality control, and warehousing. Primary responsibilities include ensuring efficient data collection, maintaining the quality and integrity of large data sets, and assisting investigators with data retrieval for the generation of reports, data analysis, and preparation of grant applications and publications.

Applicant must be proficient in SAS, Microsoft ACCESS and EXCEL, and have experience with other applications for data management and analysis. SAS coding skills are highly desirable. Skills in implementing and interpreting the results of basic descriptive and inferential statistical analyses of large datasets are mandatory. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: creating data collection forms and relational databases; managing and cleaning scientific data; reviewing research protocols; preparing tables and figures of summary measures and descriptive statistics; conducting library and/or on-line research relevant to work; assisting with the preparation of documents and materials for grant applications, data and safety monitoring meetings, and progress reports.

This position demands and expects a degree of independence. Applicants must have demonstrated abilities in setting priorities for scope of work, and integrating research activities with administrative tasks in an effective manner. S/he must act and show progress with minimal supervision, be diligent and persistent, and ask questions when clarification is needed. Additionally, the individual should be highly competent with a variety of computer hardware and common software applications, and learn new applications where dictated by the study's research demands. The ability to communicate effectively with scientific, professional, and other personnel is essential.

PROFESSIONAL FIELD: Research data analysis

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Incumbent will work under the supervision or at the direction of Head of the Division, the Director of Research and various Principal Investigators as required.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

SALARY RANGE: $55,000 - $65,000 dependent upon education and experience

Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in biostatistics, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, epidemiology, public health, or other analytic science
•Proficiency and demonstrated experience using SAS and ACCESS
•1 year minimum experience managing large data sets.

Desired Qualifications
•Master's degree in biostatistics, bioinformatics, applied mathematics, epidemiology, public health, or other analytic science
